"So, That would explain the amulets you and Misty wear, and the small, but very important, rods you carry in your belts." Elm said.
"Yep, We're Ash and Misty Ketchum, Keepers of the Power of Lugia and Ho-oh!" Ash said.
Ash then promptly got out his robe, as did Misty, then they put them on, the Staffs extending, then they pushed back their hoods, to show the heads of Lugia and Ho-oh.
"Elm, You are one of only a handful of people to see below the Robes Of Office." Lugia said, "This body now holds the God, Lugia."
"And I guess Misty is the holder of the God Ho-oh." Elm guessed.
"Yes." Ho-oh said, then they put up the hoods, and removed the robes, to become normal people again.
"We rarely do that, since it would make it too obvious we are the Legendary Ones." Ash said.
Misty then got out the box she'd so recently held out to 249 people.
"The Amulet Box. Was kept in Rainbow Cloud, until we became the true Gods, where we inherited the title, and the responsibility." Misty said.
Elm looked at the over 100 amulets that sat in the box.
"Why aren't there 249 amulets?" Elm asked.
"Around two-fifths of the bearers are still out there, having chosen to leave their life behind. We have to, each decade, find people who fit the personality of a amulet, and give them a chance to be a Pokepersonality, and after five years, We must debrief them, and ask if they wish to remain in their new life. If they accept, We give them the responsibility. The instant their interest wanes, they get the choice again, even if it's not been five years. They cannot quit during each decade's reshuffle." Misty explained.
"So, Essentially, You must spend eternity looking for people who will become guardians to the POKeMON, and if they decide they don't want to be guardians any more, they can go, but only if it's during a time there are less then 251 Pokepersonalities." Elm guessed.
"Yep. The Gods have never had more than 151 active Pokepersonalities." Misty said, "Including Mewtwo."
James knew his outfit would eventually fail, but it had only a decade of life tops.
"By the way, Only our outfits and those in use by the current Pokepersonalities can last ad infinitum. They become relatively normal when no longer needed." Ash added, "James, Your outfit shoud last about 20 years if kept well. Jessie, 15 years, Brock, 30, Iyami, Not too sure, but at least a decade."
They called Oak, and showed him the Silver and Gold Rods Of Office.
"Ahem... What do you wish to ask?" Oak said.
"Just wanted you to know that Gary has decided to become the Mewtwo Pokepersonality, overthrowing Tengu." Ash said.
"I guess that means he'll be a lot longer on his journey." Oak said, "So, Ash, What are you doing using a normal phone, while brandishing the Silver Rod?"
"Misty's got the amulets, and in five years, we've got to scatter them far and wide." Ash said, "I'm the Keeper Of the Soul Of Lugia. Misty, same, but for Ho-oh."
"Meaning, You could literally fly up to Pallet Town on your own power." Oak said.
"I hate doing that. It's called abuse of responsibility." Ash said.
"How are you doing with the Jolt League?" Oak asked.
"Well, I've been unable to continue for the last five years. I'll tell you when I get back on track." Ash said.
Ash rarely displayed his new status, and the only clue to his secret was his jacket. He managed to get Misty to find him a public costume for both of them, that didn't scream 'Ex-Pokepersonality!'
Brock and Iyami stayed with the group.
Team Rocket rehired Jessie and James, Giovanni deciding they had just needed time off. They didn't tell him Ash and Misty's secret.
Tengu waits for the time he can reclaim the Mewtwo Amulet, and turn Mewtwo back to evil.
THE END OF POKEPERSONALITIES JOHTO
BUT NOT THE END OF THE ADVENTURE...
